Pregnant? 5 Things You Absolutely Can't Live Without

Posted on

Pregnancy is a wonderful experience for most women. However, it does come with its own set of drawbacks, such as morning sickness, additional weight gain and enhanced body pain. Luckily, there are a few things that you can equip yourself with to help reduce these "problems" so that you can fully enjoy this joyous time in your life.

1. Acupressure Bands

Acupressure bands are designed to help relieve you from your morning sickness. In fact, studies show that these bands help up to 75 percent of pregnant women. Offering virtually immediate relief with no side effects, these bands can be worn all throughout the day to keep your nausea at bay.

2. Memory Foam Mattress Topper

You may have a pretty comfortable mattress, but when you get pregnant, it's not going to be nearly as comfortable as it was. Your body is going to hurt, especially your back, joints, hips and pelvic area. A good, quality memory foam topper can help alleviate some of the pain that you feel at night while maximizing your comfort.

3. Diffuser with Essential Oils

Some pregnant women will develop allergies and will not want to take any kind of over-the-counter or prescription allergy medication. A natural way to relieve allergies while pregnant is with essential oils in a diffuser. Some of the most notable oils for allergy relief include lemon, peppermint and lavender. These oils will not only help keep allergies at bay, but will help you sleep better and reduce your nausea/morning sickness.

4. Chiropractic Care

Believe it or not, seeing a chiropractor while you're pregnant is completely safe. This type of treatment can help alleviate the back pain that you begin to suffer from as you get further along in your pregnancy. An adjustment can also help you if you struggle with Pelvic Girdle Pain (PGP). It is recommended that you find a chiropractor who specializes in helping pregnant women to ensure that they are able to treat you appropriately.

5. Pool Membership

Water aerobics and just plain and simple swimming are some of the best exercises that you can do while you are pregnant. The reason for this is because the water helps to relieve your joints from the extra weight. A pool membership will help keep you in shape and healthy while also reducing your body pain, especially in the later stages of your pregnancy.

Before you do anything, you should always consult with your OBGYN to ensure that you and your baby stay safe. The last thing you want to do is harm your baby in any way. If you're uncertain of whether you should do this or do that, call your doctor for his or her advice.
